I am a Canadian who spent one month in Chile. I needed a small car. I rented a small Suzuki Alto from LYS and was completely satisfied. Andres is fluent in English and is very fast at answering Emails. Information on what is covered and what is not covered was very clear. What also led to me renting was that all tags for highways within Santiago were included in the price and the "damage to third parties" coverage was unlimited. Car was delivered at the door on time.

Cheaper than big name companies, vehicle in excellent condition.

Would rent again from LYS next time I visit Chile!

We have had a fantastic trip in Chile and Argentina. Everything went according to our plan - Andres - thanks for organising the car. - it was perfect, for both the fast freeway and also went well on the rough mountain roads. Andres is based in Santiago, but can organise car rentals for English speaking clients any where in Chile. In our case he organised for the car to be brought to Puerto Mont airport, then it was picked up again in Puerto Varas.

The best things for us about renting the car through LYS, (and us having no Spanish) were that we organised all the financials with LYS before then trip, then when in Chile we could call or send a message to Andres 24/7 if we had any problems to do with the car and be assured that he could help sort out any issues for us.

Thank you again for supporting our car rental needs during our recent trip to Chile. Our first rental in Punta Arenas went very smooth, including an up grade to a Nissan pickup. We had no trouble reaching Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine.

Our second rental in Puerto Montt was equally smooth enabling us to see Puerto Varas and most of the beautiful Lake District including Volcan Osorno.

We rented a Toyota Hilux through Andres for our recent (March April 2018) six week, 10,000 km journey through Chile and Argentina. Andres organised all the vehicle requirements including documents for border crossings and insurance in both countries. Because of this, the process was very simple for us and everything proceeded without any problems. The vehicle was trouble-free, the GPS that Andres supplied was invaluable! We did not need to call Andres at any time but it was reassuring to know that we could if there had been a problem.

In the beginning of 2018, we used LYS services for renting two cars for a trip of two families, stating in Chile, and crossing to Argentina to visit Bariloche and the seven lakes. Andres managed to provide us the most economic offer, with two 4X4 cars and international insurance, which were perfect for our needs. I have been using Lys since 1992 on an annual basis. Twice in 2015, twice in 2016 and again twice in 2017. Whilst not always the cheapest Andres lays out the cost and what is covered precisely. No additional costs on collection or return something the car rental industry has a reputation for.

I never had a opportunity to test the 24/7 service and support until my last trip. Our hire car was broken into with many electrical items stolen and the car documents. Andres acted swiftly, responsibly and was very supportive ensuring our immediate crisis was not a total disaster Andres speaks perfect English combined with a slight touch of English humour.

I thoroughly recommend this company.

Having never visited South America before we were a little wary of arranging a hire car through an (to us) unknown provider. However, Andres’ clear and very helpful information convinced us. The whole reservation process was very simple and the end result could not have been better. We received the clearest instructions I have ever seen from a rental car company or accommodation for what to do to pick up and return our car - photos!!! If I were to return to Chile, I would make sure to use Lys Car Rental, one of the most reliable and accommodating private car hire services I have ever used. Andres was helpful throughout the entire booking process, making sure to give me detailed breakdowns of cost as well as invaluable information about the places I was going. He even assisted to book restaurants beforehand, which was incredibly useful given my lack of Spanish.

Lys also ensured that I was well taken care of the moment I landed in Chile till the very end. The wonderful driver and guide, Miguel and Marcelo, picked us up at the airport and ensured that we were ferried around Santiago and Vina del Mar in complete comfort. They bent over backwards to ensure that our trip was seamless. Marcelo is a wonderful guide with perfect English who has many good stories about Chile, as well as great tips on where to go. During 2 months last year we made a 14000 km road trip through Chile and Argentina. It was a wonderful experience also because our jeep provided by LYS never caused us any problems. A missing stamp at the border with Argentina was solved effectively by Andres through email and direct contact with customs: we only had one hour delay and could hit the road again in Argentinean Patagonia. Also the pick-up at the airport and the accomodation during a couple of days in Santiago were well taken care of. After coming back in Santiago we had a nice meal with Andres and his wife Raquel before our departure back to Amsterdam and our house on the island of Zakynthos Greece. We will be back again in the near future for another trip on the road in this unique part of the world.

We have used the service of LYS Rent A Car during trips in 2003, 2004 and 2006, and 2008 based on recommendations from a friend in the UK. Even when there was a little mishap in 2003, it was put right quickly and efficiently. Their 4x4s were ideal for taking us to some very remote places, sturdy and reliable and competitively priced. Perhaps the best recommendation is that we will be using their services again on our next trip this 2010, as will our friends, when we will have 3 of their cars taking us on yet another adventure in the Atacama Desert.

If you're planning on renting a car in Patagonia, LYS is the only way to go. Andres was extremely helpful and always responded quickly to any questions we had. He even gave us itinerary suggestions and sent us photos of different areas we should visit. We were given a 2019 VW Tiguan Sport 4x4 and it performed wonderfully. No problems whatsoever. LYS took care of all of the border crossing paperwork (we crossed the Chile/Argentina border 4 times) and everything was in perfect order. No matter how you slice it, renting a car to travel Patagonia is going to be expensive, but we found LYS to be reasonably priced. Furthermore, we really felt like we got our money's worth with the constant support from Andres, the seamless rental process and the flexibility when we needed to change our plans. We added an additional 4 days onto the rental, and dropped off in a different location, and Andres took care of everything. All I had to do was call him and ask. It was a great experience!
